Current Opinion in Psychiatry was launched in 1988. It is one of a successful series of review journals whose unique format is designed to provide a systematic and critical assessment of the literature as presented in the many primary journals. The field of psychiatry is divided into 12 sections that are reviewed once a year. Each section is assigned a Section Editor, a leading authority in the area, who identifies the most important topics at that time. Here we are pleased to introduce the Journal's Section Editors for this issue. SECTION EDITORS Mohan IsaacMohan IsaacMohan Isaac FRCPsych, FRANZCP is currently Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the Division of Psychiatry, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, The University of Western Australia, Perth and Consultant Psychiatrist, Fremantle Hospital and Health Services, Fremantle, Australia. After completing his medical training at the Bangalore Medical College, Bangalore, India, Mohan obtained postgraduate training and qualifications in psychiatry (Diploma in Psychological Medicine and Doctorate in Medicine – Psychiatry) from the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS) in Bangalore. He joined the teaching faculty of NIMHANS in 1979 as a lecturer and subsequently worked there for over 25 years in various capacities and chaired the Department of Psychiatry for numerous years. He is currently a Visiting Professor of Psychiatry at NIMHANS. Mohan has contributed significantly to the development and implementation of the ‘National Mental Health Programme’ in India. Mohan has assisted the World Health Organization (WHO) as a temporary adviser and consultant in mental health on numerous occasions and in different parts of the world including Afghanistan and Jordan. He has also worked as a staff member at WHO's headquarters in Geneva. He has assisted numerous other international organizations such as the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA), Asian Development Bank (ADB), Manila, United Mission to Nepal, Kathmandu, Royal Netherlands Embassy in India, New Delhi, etc., on matters related to mental health. Mohan actively supports the work of various non-governmental organizations in the field of health and mental health, in developing countries. He is the President of the “Society for Community Health Awareness, Research and Action” (www.sochara.org), and a past President of the “Medico-Pastoral Association” (www.medicopastoralassociation.com), both located in Bangalore, India. He has a special interest in delivery of mental health care in resource poor settings. He is currently involved in a project on “Capacity building for mental health care services, training and research in Asian countries”. Igor FilipčićIgor FilipčićIgor Filipčić, MD, PhD, is a specialist psychiatrist and subspecialist in biological and social psychiatry. He is currently General Manager of Psychiatric Clinic “Sveti Ivan”, Croatia, and Head of the University at Psychiatric Clinic “Sveti Ivan”. Igor is elected representative of the WPA (World Psychiatric Association) Zone 9 – Central Europe for 2020–2023 and is also a board member of the WPA Comorbidity section. Igor is Professor at the Department of Psychiatry and Psychological Medicine at the University of Zagreb Medical School, Croatia, as well as Professor at the Department of Psychiatry and Pregrada Faculty at the Department of Dental Medicine and Health at the Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of in Osijek, Croatia; and Head of the University undergraduate study for nursing in Sveta Nedelja. He has dedicated his career to research programs, while at the same time treating patients with schizophrenia and affective disorders. He leads in a variety of research, domestic, and international projects, and is chief investigator in clinical trials. His current research is related to the association between mental illness and chronic medical illness with use of non-invasive brain stimulation techniques, such as transcranial magnetic stimulation. Therefore, Igor Filipčić has gained the qualification for the use deep transcranial magnetic stimulation “Certificate of BrainsWay Deep TMS operator”, and, in association with Harvard TH Chan School of Public Health and Institute for Healthcare Improvement, Igor completed “The International Leadership Development for Physicians Program”. He is Head of the Reference Center of the Ministry of Health of the Republic Croatia for the treatment of transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) of psychiatric diseases and comorbidities at the Psychiatry Clinic “Sveti Ivan”, as well President of the Croatian Society for Neurostimulation of the Brain at the Croatian Medical Association. Igor Filipčić is the organizer of the Croatian Conference SCHIZOPHRENIA 360° in Psychiatric Clinic “Sveti Ivan”, organizer of the PIN Congress (psychiatry, internal medicine, neurology for family physicians), organizer of the first Croatian Congress TMS – MARCH, and first Croatian Conference PIK on behavioural addictions with international participation of the Psychiatric Hospital “Sveti Ivan”. He is a member of WPA, EPA, APA, HPD, Representative in the Assembly of the Croatian Medical Chamber in the City of Zagreb, Member of the Committee for Medical Ethics and Deontology of the Croatian Medical Chamber and a large number of organizational committees from psychiatric fields. As a lecturer, he participated in over 100 domestic and international conferences and recently has participated as a moderator and lecturer at the 21st World Congress of Psychiatry ‘New World, New Challenges for Psychiatry & Mental Health’. He is author and co-author of chapters in 10 books and 70 scientific papers (CC, SCI or SSCI) in the last five years.
